A critically ill man died in front of the University for Development Studies (UDS) Tamale Campus after being abandoned by his brother and allegedly denied treatment at Tamale Teaching Hospital.
According to reports from EDHUB, the deceased, identified as Ibrahim, claimed his brother abandoned him on Friday, June 28, 2024. They had traveled from Kumasi to Tamale for treatment of a spinal problem that had left Ibrahim paralyzed for some time. His brother said he was out of money and left to get more, promising to return quickly.
However, the brother did not return until today, when some UDS students found Ibrahim in critical condition. The students contacted the campus police, who then called the national ambulance service.
When the ambulance arrived, they informed Tamale Teaching Hospital about the situation. Allegedly, the hospital refused to treat Ibrahim due to a lack of identification documents.
